What is quantum science? What kind of innovation can come from studying it, and how can that technology affect our daily lives and the lives of future generations?

UC Berkeley has invested in fundamental quantum science research for decades, building a strong foundation and rich ecosystem of more than a dozen institutes, groups, and colleges across campus dedicated to research.

In this video, produced by UC Berkeley’s fundraising division, Berkeley professors highlight how Berkeley is a leader in quantum science and technology.

“No one knows the full potential of quantum science and technology. “We don’t know what materials and methods will power quantum computers, networks, sensors and devices,” said Cathy Yelick, Berkeley’s vice chancellor for research. “This uncertainty is a huge opportunity for basic research.”
