Trinity Episcopal School is seeking a Middle School Math and Computer Science teacher.
This 10-month full-time employee reports directly to the Middle School Principal. As a middle school teacher, the middle school math teacher will teach various levels of math and computer science/problem solving to students in grades 6-8. Middle school teachers also serve as student advisors, overseeing ten to twelve students in grades 6-8 as Koinonia (“fellowship”) leaders. Our high-relationship mentoring program requires someone with high emotional intelligence. Someone who is committed to the school’s mission and community is best served in our collective decision-making process. Finally, like all other teachers, the middle school math teacher can contribute to the school’s overall educational efforts by participating anywhere and anytime. The Middle School Mathematics teacher supports the work of the school by promoting the mission, values and policies of Trinity Episcopal School.
Primary responsibilities of middle school math/computer science teachers include:
• According to the assignment, several math lessons will be taught in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
• Teach 2 computer science lessons to 6th and 7th grade students
• Develop and update all teaching curricula
• Communicate with family through report cards and conversations
• Plan to address learning differences using appropriate technology tools such as adaptive/assistive devices and audio recordings.
• Facilitate the Koinonia group
• Alternate break, lunch and car duties as a member of the MS training team
• Attend all field trips, service learning outings, community events, gatherings, and incidental learning opportunities
• All other work assigned by the Head of the Secondary School

Education and work experience:
• Previous teaching experience in secondary schools is an advantage
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field
Skills and Abilities:
• This is primarily a math and computer science background, but a background in teaching is an advantage.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty members in the department to help implement an integrated program for students
• Ability to prepare unit plans, daily lesson plans, classroom materials, and assessments
• Advantage of using the following digital learning programs: Google Workplace for Education, Code.org
• Experience with one or more of the following technologies is a plus: 3D printing, Dash robots, Lego WeDo 2.0 robots, Sphero robots, ClassVR
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, writing, organizational and communication skills
