Adidas is advancing its assets for women of color in sports during a series of private dinner forums

The world of sports is often portrayed as a man’s world. Women’s sports have never been more popular, but the media is still dominated by men. Recently USC/Purdue University study Research shows that women’s sports coverage is significantly lower on television and online.

To break down these barriers, women from a variety of backgrounds were brought together for an open conversation, Convos With The Culture: A Dinner Forum on Women’s Sports and Media. The society was founded to give women a sense of independence and to offer an environment for honest and open discussion about current topics in a fine dining setting.

For(bes) The Culture was invited to the Las Vegas edition of the dinner forum hosted by Color Creative Consulting. The forum-style event featured a private gathering of some of the most prominent women in sports, entertainment and journalism.

The main goal was to bring attention to women in sports and health, who are often overlooked in the media, and to raise awareness of their platform and resources. The events took place in Los Angeles during BET Weekend and in Las Vegas during the NBA Summer League.

Make sure every guest has a voice at the table by asking attendees personal questions about sports, mental health, the pay gap, society and more. These questions were then posed in a dinner forum to ensure that the topic of conversation was appropriate for the women in the room.

Adidas Basketball saw an opportunity to help women of color on their journey by acknowledging where they’ve been and what they’ve done while fighting for fair representation in sports. The opportunity was a reminder of the importance and lifestyle impact of basketball shoes ForumIt was once before it was reintroduced in 2020.

The event featured a fun interactive photo booth for guests hosted by the January Rays. Tiny Tags, Mutts Sauce, Her Secret Garden, Sabreen Cosmetics, It Just Works, Skin Garden They were all presented with gifts at the dinner, which intentionally included women-owned and operated businesses.

Adidas Basketball provided each participant with a pair of forums and Black-Owned Businesses Lobos 1707 and Michael Lavelle Wines provided with a selection of specialty cocktails and wines.

Like many athletes, Forum’s journey began on the street, working with prestigious boutiques and then developing high-profile partnerships with elite athletes. Like the women celebrated in the hall at the event, the forum is diverse in color and texture, and aims to tell a story to be told directly to its consumers.

For the past three seasons, adidas Originals has been reclaiming its rights to the fashion forum through creative designs, partnerships and storytelling.

Adidas Basketball’s Global Brand Storytelling Manager, Melissa Mallari, said the company is committed to creating lasting change and equality for the marginalized.

“It’s an honor to be a part of this experience. Having a forum where women in the industry can come together, connect with each other, solve problems and break bread is an experience many of us long for. Conversation isn’t always pretty, but it’s necessary,” Mallari said.

Barbara Sitangan, Assistant Basketball Manager, Global Brand Storytelling, Adidas Basketball, discusses the benefits the sports industry can bring to women if done right.

“Many of us are the first members of our families to hold these positions. Now that I have people I can turn to for help and advice, it means I’m the first in my family, but I won’t be the last. It is very important to recognize that sport has given us the opportunity to teach, inspire and open up opportunities for others, and this is our legacy to continue to grow,” Sitangan explained.
