Ryan Reynolds won’t be doing another musical in his career.
The 46-year-old actor, who has to sing and dance in his new film Ghost, admits that while he’s happy with action scenes, he struggled more when creating the holiday dance drama for Apple TV+.
In an interview with Big Issue magazine, the ‘Deadpool’ star said: “Training for superhero movies is something I’ve been doing since I was 20 and now I’m 46. It’s second nature to me. Doing fight sequences is in my life. memorizes very quickly.
“I can make mistakes and use them to my advantage at the time.
“When I’m dancing, if I make one mistake, I fall all the way down. I don’t know if I will [make a musical] again. I don’t think so.
“They are vastly different industries.
“Unless you’ve spent your life in a craft like song and dance, you’re always playing catch-up.
“Thank God we need 15, 20, 30, 50 to get it right!”
Although he struggled with his steps, Ryan really enjoyed watching the dancers work on the film.
He said: “I loved watching the dancers and singers who worked on the film. It was one of the greatest privileges of my life to be in the front row of their talent. I mean, they don’t go unnoticed.
“You’ll find a bunch of dancers in a feature film, but they’re the pillars of the story.”
But the Canadian star teased that a musical number could be included in the Deadpool Christmas special.
He added: “I’d love to see a song and dance number from Deadpool.
“Four years ago, we wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool, but it got lost in Disney’s acquisition of Fox and never got made. Someday we’ll be able to make that movie.”
